What are FCF’s Covenant Groups all about?

“He appointed twelve… that they might be with him and that he might send them out.”  Matthew 3:14

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.”  Acts 2:42

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”  Acts 2:46-47

     An FCF Covenant Group is a community where you can belong, where you can share your joys, sorrows, dreams and disappointments, discuss your concerns, and ask questions about faith, the Bible, and God’s plan and purpose for your life.  It is a context in which to receive encouragement and be prayed for as well as a place to pray, encourage and reach out to others.

     The purpose of the Covenant Group is to provide an environment wherein members of FCF can grow to know God more as they fellowship, equip one another and reach out to those who need Jesus Christ and His body.  This environment is created when believers commit themselves to one another for the benefit of their mutual spiritual growth  by means of a covenant.  A covenant is a serious commitment or promise between people and before God to do something.  As a norm, a person who is a Covenant Group member has made a covenant of membership with FCF.  We also encourage non-members to attend and experience Covenant Groups in order to explore God's blessing and benefits of Covenant membership.

  We believe the objectives of Covenant Groups represent the biblical character of true Christian fellowship.

In these groups we seek to develop a community…

where every member is growing deeper in his or her love for God and His Kingdom; where reaching out to others and making disciples is a constant reality;

where unity and reconciliation with others is a Christian lifestyle; where understanding and applying the whole counsel of God to life is a valued practice’

where every member knows and uses his or her spiritual gifts and strengths for the building of God’s church; where loving mercy and doing justice are cultivated;

where every member finds a joy-filled experience in meeting together with brothers and sisters in Christ.

How do I join a Covenant group at FCF?

     It is simple.  Groups are open and eager to involve anyone who is seeking to pursue the Lord.  A list of contact names and numbers for each group is listed on the back of this brochure. Simply contact Djik Maouyo at dmaouyo1@verizon.net and identify yourself as a person who seeks to visit that FCF covenant group.

You will be informed of the time and location of the group.  After several visits a member will walk you through the process of formally committing to the group covenant.  We encourage visitors to find the group that is best for them as quickly as possible and then get committed.  Though covenant membership in the church is not a prerequisite for membership in the small group, we hope that small group participants who are in town long term will make the commitment to the entire body.

    Covenant groups are gatherings of broken people who are being

restored—restored in communion with God, in fellowship with believers, and in service in the world.
