FAITH URBAN WORKS

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.“

 —Micah 6:8

Faith Urban Works are the community development enterprises of Faith Christian Fellowship which seek to holistically address the economic, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the urban community. These ministries include Baltimore Christian School, presently a  pre-K through 5thgrade private Christian school targeting the under resourced community of Pen Lucy and surrounding neighborhoods and Pen Lucy Action Network (with Pen Lucy Youth Partnership and Community Development & Revitalizing Programs) which works to correct other economic, social and cultural injustices. At the heart of these ministries is the desire to be faithful to God’s calling to act justly and love mercy as we seek the peace and prosperity of Pen Lucy and Baltimore. (Micah 6:8; Jer. 29:7). The ultimate goal of such ministries of justice and mercy is to be vital expressions of the gospel in order to make mature disciples of Christ. In these works we seek to serve the greater body of Christ beyond our church both through direct ministries of justice and mercy and by providing vital connections and opportunities of service to the larger Body of Christ in the greater Baltimore community.

The Faith Urban Works Leadership Team has been established to provide for communication and coordination of the BCS and PLAN ministries and to protect the unity and promote the whole of our Christian community development ministries. The FUW  Leadership Team consists of the Pastor, the elder/chairman/president of BCS Cam Macdonald and the sessional appointed representative of PLAN, Emily Sippel.

Praise for 2008:

The FUNd Run in October where approximately 50 runners ran in the Baltimore Marathon raising over $40,000 through approximately 300 donors. Thank you Don Rittler and the FUNd Run leadership team. We look forward to the growing movement of runners for next year.

Anonymous donor through the PCA Foundation contributed the largest single gift in FCF history, $790,000 with a focus on strategic leadership needs of Faith Urban Works.

Goals & Prayers for 2009:

To hire Faith Urban Works Development Administrative Assistant, full time as  Sue Frech has to cut back her hours

To hire a Director of Development for FUW to champion the cause and raise the resources to support our approximately one million dollar CCD works in Pen Lucy.

Upcoming Events for 2009:

FAITH URBAN WORKS FUNd Run

Last year we had our first ever FUNd RUN, a successful event that raised over $40,000 through the efforts of over 40 runners and 350 donors.  Once again, we are recruiting a dedicated team of runners who will raise awareness and funds for FUW by participating in the Baltimore Running Festival on October 10, 2009.  We’re offering weekly group runs for the participants, providing training and material to seek sponsorships, a special pre-race pasta dinner and more!  Sound exciting? Want to join us? If you are a novice runner, we are here to help you each step of the way.  Check out more details on our FUNd RUN page.
