Servants In Worship

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts." —Psalm 96:8

Worship is the activity of honoring God by praising, thanking and exalting Him. Worship is relational, He speaks and we respond. Worship is participant oriented, it is not passive watching. God expects everyone to participate by bringing something of value to worship Him. Worship is giving God worth with our time, our words, our thoughts, our resources and our deeds.

Many people devote time and effort to facilitate our Sunday morning worship services and supporting ministries. The following are descriptions of the various worship ministries that allow FCF to pursue its goals for worship. Some of these areas might not seem very important but each is essential to make our worship whole and to bring honor to God. Many of these ministries have openings for additional servant volunteers. Members of FCF are encouraged to participate in one or more of these ministries. Members are also discouraged from over committing, so new servants are welcome to share the burden and the opportunity of service.

If you feel you would like to serve but are unsure because you don't know how, don't worry, we will help you. Worship is not just for professionals, it is for all of God's people.

Friends of Jesus
Friends of Jesus provides children ages 4-7 a teaching and worship time geared to their age level to help them know, love and worship God. They are dismissed from the main worship service before the sermon. There is a 6-8 week teaching rotation. Teachers receive a lesson to prepare during the week, which they are responsible to teach on Sunday. Volunteers are expected to attend teacher's meetings, be faithful in preparing their lessons and be on time.

Sound Team
The purpose is to provide consistent and clear sound for worship on Sunday mornings and for special events and services, and to record the sermons. Volunteers serve on a monthly rotation. When worship attendance exceeds the capacity of the sanctuary, the sound team also provides a simultaneous remote broadcast in the east sanctuary (a.k.a. the parlor).

Music Ministry
The music ministry exists to provide an excellent musical environment in order to assist the congregation in bringing praises to our God. Music team members serve on a varying basis depending on need and availability. Special music is also provided by various singers and instrumental musicians in the congregation. Although we try to include as many as possible, and are always seeking new talent, we may require potential volunteers to audition, and not everyone who is interested will be asked to participate in the music ministry.

Nursery
The purpose of the nursery is to create and maintain a welcoming, interesting, safe and clean environment for infants and toddlers. We hope that this will give children a positive first encounter with church life and foster a more worshipful church experience for the parents. Nursery volunteers serve on a 6-week rotation. Responsibilities include arriving 15 minutes before the worship service begins, taking care of the needs of the children while in the nursery, cleaning up before leaving the nursery and attending staff meetings.

Multimedia Team
The purpose of this team is to assist the music team and congregation in bringing praises to God in worship by operating the multimedia needs, including PowerPoint, during Sunday worship. Volunteers serve on a monthly rotation. Team members also provide large-screen video presentations for Sunday school, sporting events, video clips during Sunday worship service, movie presentations and other special events.

Readers
During each worship service one member of the congregation participates by reading a passage of scripture.

United Voices of Faith
The purpose of the United Voices of Faith is to develop a unified body of skilled singers who can enhance the worship at FCF by enthusiastically leading with sounds of praise. There are weekly practices on Thursday evenings and the choir sings during worship on the first and third Sundays of each month.

Ushers
The ushering ministry exists to welcome and extend hospitality to those who worship with us on Sunday mornings and to offer a friendly greeting that will encourage people to enter into a spirit of worship as they enter the sanctuary. Ushers serve on a once-month rotation. Their responsibilities include preparing the Sanctuary for the service, stuffing bulletins, preparing communion, greeting and assisting people, ushering people into the service and attending any meetings scheduled.

Worship Hospitality
This is a ministry that provides visitors and members a time of informal fellowship and refreshment following each Sunday service. Volunteers serve on a 4-6 week rotation by preparing and serving refreshments.

Worship Leadership Team
The Worship leadership team meets every other month to review our worship themes, outline components, explore ways to enhance our worship and address administrative matters. Team members include the pastors, the elder responsible for worship, the music director, the sound team director and the worship administrators.

If you would like to learn more about participating in the worship of FCF through any of these ministries, contact the church office or speak to the servants in worship after the service.

SERVANTS IN ACTION

Sign up on the table outside Sunday Services to register on the Servants in Action list.  Being SIA-registered does not commit you to any specific activity or date, but just tells us that you are willing to help in certain areas where we may need help.  Current areas of potential need include the categories of Special Projects, Transportation, Food, Ministry Visits, House Cleaning, Child Care, and Shopping.  Sign up this Sunday in the Foyer!
